Description

The Gearing class of US made destroyer was built during World War II but did not enter service until late in 1945 as the war was ending. The class survived and served through numerous upgrades and was sold to many different fleets accross the world.

This kit specifically of DD-743 USS Sutherland of the gearing class, saw operation in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. USS Sutherland was the first US ship to enter Tokyo Harbour at the end of World War II.

Kit is supplied with a bonus 1/72 scale model of the Mk38 5 inch 38 caliber twin gun mount as used on the bow of USS Sutherland.
